If you want to get some great Cuban inspired food than I recommend going here.  It is one of the best places around.  It is very good for soups, too, they are truly gourmet, though.  I really like them as much as the main course.  Expect to be paying a pretty penny, it is really good and well worth it.

This place is so awesome.  As in if you don't hear people talking about it like all the time there is a problem.  Everyone is always talking about this place all the students and everyone around me.  It has a great dessert that is something like a chocolate cigar that you must try.  It has great authentic foods and it is super tasty.  Chefs are amazing and rock.

Great! except the pork

The decor is great. The service is great. The drinks are great. MOST of the food is great. Worth the splurge, but stick to the sea food. For some reason all the pork just tastes like a hot dog.

I love this place. The warm corn rolls they serve right from the start are to die for. Also, the beautiful photos they have lit on the wall give this place a good feel.

Alma de Cuba is seriously worth the splurge. From the complimentary, warm and chewy, slightly sweet rolls to the appetizers, entrees and on through dessert, Alma de Cuba knows what it's doing when it comes to food. They especially excel at cooking up seafood. Try the sea bass or salmon if it's on the menu. It's also a great restaurant week option!

They make good cocktails and appetizer here and have an amazing decor. The food however is not particularly good and is pretty expensive. Cuba Libre's is a much better bet

There are not a ton of Cuban restaurants to chose from in Philadelphia and I definitely prefer Alma de Cuba to Cuba Libre, its Old City competitor.  Alma de Cuba has a more cozy, more sedated atmosphere.  It's a great place to go on a date or in the afternoon for some cocktails.  The menu is full of classic Cuban dishes, but prepared with a little more delicacy and care than I'm used to at other Cuban restaurants.  I also love the cute little yellow facade right out there on Walnut  Street.  It makes me smile.

I've been to Alma de Cuba a number of times since it is pretty close to my apartment.  The downstairs is a great place to meet people for birthday drinks or try your hand at bringing a date and impressing her with your perfect pronunciation of capirrinha.  I've also eaten here and suggest their fish and their ceviches in particular.  The big tables make it great for groups and the ambiance is hip and stylish.  However, watch your budgets ... slug down a few mojitos and you've got yourself a hefty bill at the end of the evening.
