i used to live at 2121 market. building is essentially the same, but 60-70% of the price. if you are indifferent to the price, LOTP is worth it. there is on-site parking, a nicer gym, a study lounge. a fulltime doorman. closer to school (though NOT as close as you think as you have to loop around to bike or drive there). there are also small things like a cart for moving in. mgmt is a bit anal - way to serious about noise complains, etc. they fix things quickly.

One of the best situated buildings for Penn. Really nice to be on top of the running/bike path along the river, and next to the bridge to walk to school. Depending on which side you're on, trains can be loud if you leave windows open, but it's brief. Nice to have parking on site, too. The amenities are excellent, and the building is really nicely maintained. Definately look around and make sure to compare features--I don't think other buildings have the whole package like here. Wish I had lived here both years.
Great place

The Good... It has a great location between center city and the campus. Easy walk to campus and easy to join center city activities. Next to the river, great for jogging. Apartments are full of light and spacious. the best jogging path in Philly... In unit washer/dryers, which were brand new in my case. There is a fitness center and parking place if you need one. The Not So Good... More expensive compared to other places but difference is much smaller because of the economy. So value for money is high

The Good... Convenient location right in the middle of Rittenhouse and the campus. Easy walk to campus. Across the steet of the best jogging path in Philly... Large apartments. If you can, find a roommate and go for 2br. great value and size. The apartments are nice--- high ceilings, great light, large windows. In unit washer/dryer... I love the layout of my studio, the number of Whorton people in the building... Gym...Tremendous staff! The people at the front door and in maintenace are very friendly and helpful... The Not So Good... Rent is on the high end... Heating/AC is electric and results in high electricity bills. Noise from AC and heat... Brownstone apartments tend to have more caracter then managed apartments like Locust on the Park ( unique layouts, out dooe space, hardwood floors)... Some ols appliances... Closet space is terrible... Thin walls. You can hear the babies crying next door... Sometimes can hear the trains... Management is horrible! Rude.

The Good...Great gym, 24 security, everything in the building works...High ceilings. Huge windows. Great views. Up-to-date gym. Relatively new building. Immediate proximity to the river and a fantastic running/biking path. Security is very good. Doormen are
very helpful and friendly...It is also really convenient to have a washer/dryer in my unit...The location is unbeatable. You can walk to almost everything. While others are paying ~$3.00/day for the bus, you'll be saving and getting a little exercise. It all adds up. Did I mention location? The Not So Good...Small 1-bedroom apartment for the price...Thin walls...I do not like that the unit is carpeted (rather than wood floors) and that the counters and appliances are not nice...You have to get used to the train noise--it is VERY loud when the windows are open. Electricity (heating and cooling) is very high because lots of single-paned windows
