Convient but pricey

The pluses:- very convinient location for both campus and center city- Safe and clean, no pests etc- Maintenance and management are very friendly and responsive- low utilities (on average $20 per month or so, and I barely needed to heat last winter)- hardwood floors in the living room and carpet in the bedroom, modern appliances and fittings- small gym in the building and an office with printer and computer available for use (though ink often runs out!) as well as a conference room which you can book Cons:- can get very noisy if you are facing Walnut street or in the appartments that are on 23rd (Bar on the corner of 23rd and sirens going by)- recently many fires in the building though management has been addressing the issues- rents are high
riverloft - thin walls!
UPenn Grad
Walls are very thin between apartments. Neighbor complaints can be a huge pain in the ass if you have people over. Given that the apartments are pretty large, youre gonna have people over so expect complaints. Leasing office will call you out and bother you about it, in fact i'm being sued bc of neighbor complaints. For the amount i'm paying i expect to do what i want (obviously within reason). Besides the thin walls, everything else about the apt is pretty good - clean, well kept, in-house gym , etc ... Location is ideal for school but not for going out. I'm always late in the mornings, so typically take cab but walk home from school. Flip side is its far (relative to other apts) from rittenhouse/retaurants/bars/social events. I spend more time out than at school, so thats why the location is more of an issue from me.
Safe and Easy

Living at the Riverloft is simple, easy and enjoyable. The building is located at 23rd and Walnut which is close to campus and close to the social life of Center City. The apartments are well layed out and pretty big. I have a studio which has a nook near the front door that will fit a queen sized mattress. The main living area is big and the ceiling is really high which makes it feel even bigger. The walls are a bit thin so you can hear if your neighbors have parties. Don't expect to have a lot of parties if you live here because security will shut you down pretty quickly. Overall, the management is responsive and friendly. I had a few problems when I moved in. One issue took a bit too long to resolve (the blinds didn't work properly) but my other complaints were addressed right away. Maria, the building manager is really nice and has one of the hardest jobs which she does really well. I really love living here and would highly recommend it.

cons: expensive, cannot negotiate rents because units are in high demand, guest parking is often reserved far in advance, so don't be fooled that it is constantly available. pros: close to school, large and well-maintained. the fitler 1-br floor plan units are a relatively good value, if you can get one (there are only 6, I believe). washer/dryer in unit is a big plus, and there is ample closet space. also, most of the units have large, built-in desks which saves on furniture costs.

Great appartments, large with modern appliances. Building management is also very good, common areas are always clean and any request is quickly handled. Location is also a big plus compared to other popular Wharton buildings.Cost is relatively high, but it is largely compensated by appartments quality.

I have loved my time in the RiverLoft. Location is perfect, apartments are as nice as you'll find anywhere in Philly, plus there are always people to share a cab with. Conference room downstairs and free guest parking are a big plus too. Gym gets a 3.5/5 but that's the only real downside. Of course price is really high too but you get what you pay for. Would definitely recommend as a place to live.
Great Location

Great location...close to campus and center city. Higher prices but best price per square footage I found in center city.
Best Building in Philly

The lofts are awesome. Massive ceilings, hardwood floors, spacious, etc. I felt sorta bad moving in here, because it seems like a place you shouldn't be able to live in as a student. The service is excellent as well. Any repair requests are usually fixed same-day or at most the following day. The location is also perfect in my opinion: 4 blocks from Rittenhouse, 10 minute walk to campus. The only downside is the cost, but given that Wharton cost me about $250k in total, the increase in cost was pretty nominal.

Pros: Location (both to Penn's campus and Rittenhouse square); strong Wharton community; very safe; generally quiet (not a significant amount of street noise); friendly management; large living spaces (lofts w/ 17+ foot ceilings). Cons: Common amenities (gym, business center, meeting room) are frustrating to use (e.g. no wifi in the conference center, no ink in business center printers); lofts feel, on the whole, rather poorly made (fixtures are certainly not "top notch"); price (definitely on the higher end)

Pros: It's smack in the middle between campus and center city, so it's really convenient. I like the conference room, as it allows me to hold meetings and practices. The management is very helpful, and this is probably one of the nicer apartment buildings in the city. Cons: It's expensive and it's hard to negotiate the rent prices. This is why I'd prefer to live somewhere else if I have the chance to really look around for other places. The problem was I looked around for apartments online (I was living abroad at the time), so I wasn't able to make the best decision, especially in terms of price level. In hindsight, I'd probably try getting a place in 2400 Chestnut, or 1600 Walnut.
