The maximum is a 10 minute walk! Any more than that then it would be a drag when you have to walk to class in rain, snow, ice, sleet, hail, heat, etc.

I already commute from Girard and Frankford by Septa. The Blue line and then I switch over to the Orange line. It can take from 45 min to an hour to get to Temple. Plus if I am in Jersey gotta hop onto Patco and then  go on Septa. So I guess I am willing to commute from far...

My commute to campus is a 30 min drive that is out of traffic. If you live further away and it is possible to ride the regional rail than go for it.  Its a lot less of a hassle and you don't have to put the wear and tear on your vehicle if you drive.  The regional rail is ten times better and more reliable than subways and busses.  It is a lot cleaner and everyone from executives to students ride it so there is no stigma on riding it.

It really depends on your mode of transportation and your current situation (financial and other).  I commute about 40-50 minutes driving every day because I live at home.  If I lived off campus I wouldn’t feel like walking more than 15 minutes to get to class.  If it is cheaper to commute that may be a deciding factor in how far you are willing to drive.
