It’s that time of year again, the leaves are dropping from the trees, the mornings are cold, and scarves are being worn more often. The scarf trend is nothing new; in fact, most people would say they use them more for warmth than making a fashion statement.
I’m here to help you use your blanket scarf to do BOTH!
Blanket scarves are great because they are so versatile. They come in a variety of patterns and colors, so they will, for sure, match with any outfit in your closet, and they can be styled in so many ways. Amazon is one of my favorite places to buy my blanket scarves because they are so affordable – it’s almost a sin not to pick up a few different colors! Below I will share 5 ways to wear a blanket scarf.
1. The Classic
The classic style that most resembles the look of a standard scarf. Just wrap the blanket scarf around your neck once and let the ends hang down for a super cute, laid back look. This style is super easy because there is no tying involved. American Trends has large blanket shawls in various Scottish tartan patterns.
Wearing this style is pretty dang easy.
Step 1: Simply put the entire scarf around your neck.
Step 2: Pull one side a bit longer than the other.
Step 3: Throw the longer side over your shoulder.
Step 4: Pull forward and straighten it out, so it is all even.
2. The Infinity
If you prefer the look of a classic infinity scarf, you can create one with your blanket scarf. Simply loop it around your neck as many times as you like and tie the ends of the scarf together. Tuck in any of the edges that are showing, and you have yourself an infinity scarf!

3. The Drape
If having a scarf wrapped around your neck gives you major anxiety, no problem! You can still rock a blanket scarf by draping the scarf around the back of your neck and letting the ends hang down. This style looks great layered over your jacket and gives dimension to your outfit.
Genovega’s Oversized Blanket Scarf comes in tons of colors to match any style. As you can see in the picture above, it is the easiest to style and will bring some life to your plain black jacket.
4. The Wrap/Shawl
It doesn’t have to be freezing where you live for you to wear a blanket scarf. Use your scarf as a wrap for the added warmth you need. All you need is a basic long sleeve tee, jeans, knee-high boots, and your blanket scarf to make a cute outfit perfect for Fall. We love the Lanzom Blanket Scarf Wrap Shawl because you can dress them up or down depending on the occasion.
5. The Shirt/Cardigan
Lastly, and my personal favorite way to style a blanket scarf is to add a belt. The great thing about blanket scarves is that they tend to be larger than your typical scarf. This allows you to create more of a shirt or cardigan look. The look is similar to the wrap style, but by cinching in the waist with a belt, it creates a more figure-flattering look, and what girl doesn’t want that?!
Whether you typically wear scarves for warmth rather than fashion, it’s no longer a secret that they add a touch of style and dimension to your outfit. Use our 5 infinity scarf styling tips to stay not only warm this winter but also stay stylish:
