Connected Air Fryer FAQs

Still unsure if a connected air fryer is right for you? Still have questions? Let’s see if we can help.

What is a connected air fryer?

A connected air fryer is an air fryer that connects to your WiFi and other smart home devices for easier use via both an app and voice controls.

How is a smart air fryer different from a connected air fryer?

With air fryers, you have to really be careful with the “smart” label. Many air fryers are labeled as “smart” because they have customized “smart” settings that can cook foods with less work on your end. That doesn’t necessarily mean the air fryer is “smart” in the sense of a “smart home,” though. The air fryer might not actually be able to be monitored and controlled remotely, and you might not be able to connect it to your Google Home or Alexa device.

A connected air fryer, however, will connect to these devices and/or an app. A connected air fryer is always smart, whereas a smart air fryer might not always be connected.

Is a connected air fryer better than a regular air fryer?

It depends on your cooking habits, but generally, yes. Samantha Erb, founder of Everyday Family Cooking, uses her air fryer regularly. The benefit of a connected air fryer is that “you can keep a close eye on your food if you have to leave the kitchen for any reason while you’re cooking. An app can tell you how long you have left on the timer, so you don’t have to run down the stairs to check.” No more accidentally walking away and coming back to burnt rather than crispy french fries or guessing and second-guessing whether your chicken strips are truly finished.

What can I cook with a connected air fryer?

You can cook anything that you might cook with a regular air fryer — and don’t make the mistake of assuming that you can only fry things in an air fryer. Air fryers can cook way more than you likely think. From baked goods to breakfast, they really pull their weight in the kitchen.

Other connected air fryers go beyond normal air fryer capabilities with extra features that allow you to roast, grill, etcetera.

What are the pros of using an air fryer?

Whether you go connected, smart or traditional, air fryers of all types are known to produce healthier versions of classic fried foods. They’re incredibly easy to use, easy to clean and versatile. Additionally, they cook quicker than similar methods, making them extra convenient for busy home cooks and families.

What are the cons of using an air fryer?

If you aren’t looking for a solution in the kitchen to make your cooking healthier or faster, you might not find that an air fryer is a good use of your counter space. Along those lines, they do take up space, so they might not always be a great choice for tiny kitchens that struggle with fitting extra cooking appliances. Additionally, if you usually cook only large portions, you might struggle to find an air fryer that can cook enough for the whole family.

Erb also adds, “If you have Alexa, you can just ask Alexa to start a timer and how much time is left, which basically defeats the purpose of having a wi-fi air fryer.”
