Do you follow a skincare routine?
It’s hard to believe in college I rarely owned face wash, let alone knew skincare routines existed or were that important.
Your skin is the largest organ in your body and shouldn’t be neglected. It needs extra love and care and taking care of now will continue to benefit you thirty years from now.
It’s important to understand, and took a long time for me to grasp, that everyone’s skin is different, a skincare routine takes time to develop and this is a lifelong commitment.
Below I will share with you what products are in my daily routine in order to achieve that dewy goddess look we are all trying to achieve. Full disclosure, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t spend too much money on finding the perfect products that worked for my skin.
Hopefully, this breakdown will help you save on your budget and point you in the right direction to a healthy 10-step skincare routine.
Step One: Cleansing Oil
Cleansing oils are a great way to remove your makeup after a long day.
When I first heard that oil would remove makeup better than makeup remover, I was skeptical. Makeup remover wipes seemed way more convenient and worked just fine in my eyes.
But trust me, cleansing oil works even better!
It will even remove that pesky waterproof mascara that never seems to come all the way off.
Tatcha Camellia Cleansing Oil
The Pure One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil will take off your makeup instantly without drying out your skin.
This cleansing oil, like all of Tatcha’s products, is made without parabens. In addition to the multiple vitamins and omegas in the Camellia Cleansing Oil, it has green tea to help with detoxifying, algae for water retention and renewal and Akita rice which is a moisturizer leaving your skin youthful without an oily residue.
All of Tatcha’s products are made up of few ingredients, cruelty-free, full of nutrients and meet Japan’s cosmetic regulations, which is much higher than the United States safety standards.
Step Two: Deep Cleansing
An oil cleanser is great, and all, but a deep cleanse will really help clean out those blackheads and keep your pores from being clogged.
Depending on how my skin is looking and feeling will dictate which cleanser I use.
I recommend having a few cleansers in your mix.
But, be careful with a deep cleanser; they can dry out your skin if you use the same one every day. It’s important to listen to your skin. If it seems too dry for an acne cleanser, take a day off and switch to a hydrating one.
Tatcha Rice Powder
The Tatcha Rice Powder is unlike any cleanser you have ever used before.
First off, it’s ground-up rice, and once you add water, it activates as a foam. There are 4 different variations depending on your skin type: dry, oily, combination and sensitive.
Depending on your skin needs, the rice powder has additional ingredients added like licorice root for dry skin, wild rose to help reduce pores, green tea and algae to help with redness and silk protein to help rejuvenate your skin.
A tiny amount of product goes a long way here because once activated with water, the foam takes over and exfoliates your skin for a long-lasting glow.
Earth Babe Naturals Clarifying Cleanser
Another great cleanser that I mix in to help with breakouts is Earth Babe Naturals Clarifying Cleanser. This is the cleanser you want if you suffer from breakouts.
Glycolic and salicylic acid will help zap those evil zits before you even know they are on their way.
This cleanser can be drying, so I would recommend only using this a few times a week or around that time of the month when breakouts are more common, right before your menstrual cycle.
Earth Babe Naturals products are also made with very few natural ingredients and designed for all skin types.
Step Three: Toner
Toner was always one of those products I thought was unnecessary and skipped for many years, but now I use my toner twice a day and religiously incorporated it into my routine.
Sometimes I splash some on my face first thing in the morning to help wake me up.
Once you start using it, you won’t turn back.
Thayers Alcohol-Free Rose Petal Witch Hazel
Thayers Witch Hazel is definitely the best toner out there.
My go-to is the rose petal toner and the best part is it’s under $10.
In case you didn’t know, witch hazel is a plant that grows in North America, China and Japan and has tons of benefits outside of your skincare routine. It can help fight infections, reduce scalp sensitivities and help with hemorrhoids.
The multi-benefit use makes it a must-have in your medicine cabinet.
Toner helps tighten and reduce pores, minimize redness and soothes skin. Thayers witch hazel is alcohol-free and made with natural ingredients and most likely in stock at your local Walgreen or CVS.
Step Four: Essence
You might be wondering, what the heck is the essence?
The essence step in your skincare routine is your hydration step.
This step is essential for those who live in drier climates. This step is also helpful for prepping your skin for serums and makeup.
Caudalie Brightening Essence
My favorite essence is the Concentrated Brightening Essence in the Vinoperfect line from Caudalie, which is inspired by the Asian skincare routine but based in France.
Caudalie products are paraben-free and 98% natural ingredients.
This french essence is made up of peonies, grape water and glycolic acid and can be incorporated into both your morning and evening skincare routine.
Although it’s not a selling point they mention it can help zap pimples too, which is also appreciated.
This is the one product you might be able to convince your significant other to start using once they see its power.
Step Five: Serums
Serums help soak deep into your skin for long-lasting benefits.
They can help brighten, hydrate and protect your skin all at the same time. Serums are able to absorb into your skin much better than a cream or lotion-based protect due to the concentration, which also means a little goes a long way.
A good serum will be one of the most expensive products in your skincare routine, but a good one will last you a long time.
Tatcha Vitamin-C Brightening Serum
Think of Vitamin-C serum as your anti-aging step.
Usually when you think of Vitamin-C, you probably think of oranges or broccoli, but adding it to your skincare routine can ensure the vitamin is going to the exact place you want it to go.
Tacha’s Vitamin-C Brightening Serum is a game-changer.
Not only is it free of oil and fragrance, and good for all types of skin after a few weeks of use, you will radiating that dreamy skin glow.
Vitamin-C helps protect your skin against sun damage and can help with aging as well as making sure your skin stays hydrated when you are experiencing cell turnover. You skin sheds daily and replenishes itself making it even more important to keep it hydrated.
Vitamin-C also helps soothe a sunburn, helps with collagen production and brightens your overall complexation by reducing blemishes and redness.
Earth Babe Naturals HLA Serum
Hyaluronic acid is the plumping and fine line diminishing serum.
This is also a great serum to use if you suffer from dry patches.
Earth Babe Naturals makes a great vegan and wheat-free HLA Serum that will meet your everyday needs, meet any lifestyle or allergies restrictions and won’t break the bank. There’s also coconut and jojoba oil, which will help lock in that hydration for long-lasting benefits.
Hyaluronic acid is actually found in your skin naturally and helps keep your skin hydrated. This serum helps lock in hydration, and the older we get the more our natural production of hyaluronic acid decreases. Making it even more important to replenish daily.
Since we already naturally produce hyaluronic acid internally, it is safe to use all over our body and suitable for any skin type. I have even put it on my elbows and heels in the winter when my body is super dry.
Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum
The Vinoperfect Radiance Serum is a Caudalie best seller and is probably one of my favorite products.
It helps heal those lovely dark spots and imperfections on your face. It’s said to be 62 times more brightening than a traditional vitamin-C serum and has helped my skin immensely.
If you are thinking about upgrading your current skincare routine with anything on this list, the Vinoperfect Radiance Serum is what you need to add to your cart.
Like all Caudalie products, there are no animal-derived, parabens or phthalates ingredients. This serum is oil-free and also contains Viniderine, which is a patented ingredient by Caudalie.
Viniferine is made up of grapevine sap and helps prevent dark spots, reduce current dark spots and leave your skin radiant.
Step Six: Spot Treatment
Have I mentioned we all get pimples and they stink? Well, we all know they do!
And spot treatments can become a lifesaver. It has always been hard for me to find a spot treatment that doesn’t just dry out my whole face.
Earth Babe Naturals Zit Zap
Zit Zap from Earth Babe Naturals has a roller ball top making it super easy to roll over areas to you want to address.
The nice thing about the roller top application is that you don’t have to worry about your fingers touching your pimples and accidentally spreading more over your face.
The spot treatment is intended for oily or blemish-prone skin and contains benzoyl peroxide, which is a main ingredient in a lot of acne cleaners or products. It also has salicylic acid which helps with inflammation, glycerin that helps with not over-drying the skin and witch hazel, which I talked about earlier.
This spot treatment is totally fine to use in the morning and evening to get rid of those annoying breakouts and is small enough to stash in your purse and apply on the go.
Step Seven: Masks
Not only are face masks fun to add to your skincare routine, but there are tons of benefits.
They are a great way to get your face the extra nourishment it needs. Whether you want to firm it up, hydrate it or brighten your face, there’s a mask for that!
Face masks can help the look of your skin and give you that glow you are trying to achieve.
However, this is not something you want to do daily.
A few face masks a week will do the trick. Your skin will help you decide which kind you need and how often.
Dermal Sheet Masks
These Korean made Dermal Sheet Masks have been in stock in our household for years now. Even my husband has adopted them into his skincare routine.
And the best part is they come in packs of 39 and treat pretty much every skin concern and are good on all skin types! They are all-natural, cruelty-free and contain collagen and vitamin E for plumping and youthfulness.
This variety pack includes masks for acne, moisturizing, soothing, brightening, anti-aging, anti-wrinkle, firming, nourishing and pore care. This pack covers any skin issue you might be dealing with.
Caudalie Instant Detox Mask
Sometimes you need a deep cleaning mask, and Caudalie’s Instant Detox Mask is the best one out there. It should only be used twice a week.
I really like this mask because after you take it off you can instantly feel the effects on your skin and it does not dry you out like some other deep cleaning masks.
It’s made with rose clay for purifying, papaya enzymes for brightening, tannins for pore tightening and olives for moisturizing. Like all Caudalie masks, this one smells wonderful and you won’t want to wash it off!
One thing to note when using a mask is don’t let it dry and crack.
Set a timer for 10 -15 minutes and rinse it off with a washcloth.
It might not seem like it’s fully done like other masks, but it is and your pores will look like they disappeared after using it.
Step Eight: Eye Cream
Eye creams are a miracle worker when it comes to fine lines and wrinkles.
They can also help with sun damage and help give your skin that youthful glow with a little extra collagen. Be careful not to get the cream in your eye and remember a little goes a long way in this area.
Your eye cream should last you a long time since you only need about a dime size amount around your eyes.
GINZING™ Refreshing Eye Cream
The GINZING™ Refreshing Eye Cream is made with ginseng and caffeine, giving the dark circles under your eyes a little extra love.
This eye cream will help brighten and depuff your under eyes making you look wide awake before you have had your morning coffee. The Ginzing cream will leave your face looking dewy and will hide your tired eyes. It also smells great!
Origins strives to create products that are good for you and our planet. They are conscious of their production and work to help improve the environment by planting trees around the world. So far, they have planted over 820,000 trees across the globe.
Step Nine: Moisturizer
Moisturizer is one of the most critical steps in your skincare routine. Moisturizing gives your skin the help it needs to slow down the aging process.
Moisturizing helps reduce fine lines, wrinkles and age spots as well as help with hydrating your skin.
VINE[ACTIV] 3-IN-1 Moisturizer
The VINE[ACTIV] 3-IN-1 Moisturizer is great at providing you the benefits you need all day long.
It was designed to block pollutants from getting on your skin throughout the day while maintaining that dewy look and helping mitigate wrinkles.
This moisturizer has shea butter for locking in the moisture and polyphenols for addressing the wrinkles. The best part about this moisturizer is that it is so light, you will barely feel it on you and is recommended for every skin type. Aka it isn’t too thick and won’t make you breakout.
Sometimes super hydrating moisturizers can be thick and interfere with makeup application, but this one is light and you will easily be able to put makeup on over it after letting it soak in for 30 seconds.
Step Ten: Sunscreen or Night Cream
Sunscreen and night cream are both daily essentials.
We all know why sunscreen is important. Protecting yourself from the sun will not only protect you from skin cancer, but it will also preserve your skin and keep you looking younger and healthier longer.
Night cream gives your face extra moisture and hydration while you sleep. This is extra important during the winter months. It helps your collagen production while you are sleeping, but the main benefit is it helps prevent your skin from sagging by locking in the moisture.
Tatcha Silken Pore Perfecting Sunscreen
Inspired by the Geisha’s, this is one of Tatcha’s best selling items.
The Silken Pore Perfecting Sunscreen has SPF35 and UVA and UVB protection; but it feels like you aren’t wearing anything, which can be hard to find, in my experience.
Your skin will not become shiny after you put it on like other face sunscreens and won’t cause you to break out because of the natural ingredients in the composition.
This sunscreen also has Japanese wild rose, which helps with tightening your pores, making it super easy to put your makeup over it.
Caudalie Brightening Glycolic Night Cream
The Caudalie Brightening Glycolic Night Cream makes your face feel brand new when you wake up in the morning.
It has olive squalane for moisturizing, shea butter for softening, glycolic acid for brightening and their signature viniferine for evening out your complexion.
This brightening night cream helps reduce dark spots and acne scars.
Like most night creams, this one is thick, so a little goes a long way and you only need about a dime size to use all over your face.
Skincare is so important no matter what age you are and the earlier you start a routine, the longer your skin will young and plump.
If achieving that dewy look is something you strive for I think these products will help you get to that goal and not fill your skin with toxins. These products are natural with few additives making them safe to use and equally as effective.
I wish you a lifetime of beautiful, young and plump skin. And trust me, your skin will thank you too.
